Microsoft 宣布 9 月 14 日推出 Xbox Game Pass Core 訂閱計劃以取代現有的 Xbox Live Gold 金會員訂閱，新訂閱計劃除了與金會員一樣可以遊玩網上主機多玩家遊戲，並提供會員折扣外，遊戲庫就由每月提供兩款精選遊戲，改為固定提供超過 25 款經典和多人遊戲的目錄供 Core 會員選玩，而月費就與金會員相同，一樣是每月 HK$59。
Xbox Game Pass Core 訂閱計劃只針對使用 Xbox Series X|S 和 Xbox 360 的訂戶。現有的 Xbox Live Gold 會員會在 9 月 14 日自動轉為 Xbox Game Pass Core 會員，Microsoft 會在 9 月 1 日開始停止提供每月免費遊戲，玩家就可以在遊戲庫中選擇超過 25 款遊戲來遊玩。據知，Microsoft 會在未來每年為遊戲庫增加兩、三次遊戲。現時 Microsoft 已公布的遊戲包括：

- Descenders
- Dishonored 2
- DOOM Eternal (BATTLEMODE)
- The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited
- Fable Anniversary
- Fallout 4
- Fallout 76
- Forza Horizon 4
- Gears 5
- Gounded
- Halo 5: Guardians
- Halo Wars 2
- Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
- Human Fall Flat
- INSIDE
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps
- Psychonauts 2
- State of Deny 2: Juggernaut Edition
不過要留意雖然已兌換的 Xbox 360 遊戲會保留在遊戲庫，但 Xbox One 遊戲就要持續訂閱 Xbox Game Pass Core 或 Ultimate 才能遊玩。
連同 Xbox Game Pass Core，9 月 14 日開始 Microsoft 將會有 4 種 Xbox Game Pass 訂閱計劃，分別是月費 HK$29 的 Xbox Game Pass for PC、HK$59 的 Xbox Game Pass Core、HK$65 的 Xbox Game Pass for Console 和 HK$85 的 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate。更值得留意的是 Xbox Game Pass Core 包含遊玩網上主機多玩家遊戲的資格，但貴 6 元的 Xbox Game Pass Console 而沒有該資格，但就能首日玩到 Xbox Game Studios 的遊戲。
早前 Microsoft 將所有 Xbox Game Pass 訂閱計劃加價，而去年在多國推出的家庭計劃 Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family 就會在 8 月結束。
